The PushThe Push its 15th year of operation. It was established to provide opportunities for young people to access affordable, alcohol free events and to have the option to participate in the life of the local community. The Push operates through a network of committees in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria and provides information and support to all young people in Victoria who wish to stage alcohol and drug free entertainment or who wish to develop a career in the music industry. The Push has strong associations with bands, DJs, managers, booking agencies, security firms, sound & lighting companies, local, metropolitan and national radio, street press, regional and national television, mainstream media, record companies, staging companies, publicists and graphic artists. Over the years, many successful high profile bands and artists have been discovered and many young people starting out in the music industry have gained experience and training via their involvement with The Push. The FReeZA Push Start Battle of the Bands is a state-wide competeition. It showcases young and emerging Victorian performers under the age of 21. It provides a great opportunity for young bands living in both regional and metropolitan areas to perform and refine their skills. Heats are run across the state from February to August each year. |
