Australian Music CentreAustralian Music Centre The Australian Music Centre was established in 1974 to facilitate and encourage the performance and understanding of music by Australian composers throughout the world. The Centre's Music Resource Library houses 12,500 works by more than 460 composers. The collection focuses on contemporary Australian music and, in many cases, is the only source for certain works. Experienced library staff are available to answer enquiries by phone, fax, email or in person. The Music Resource Library holds recordings, books and published scores, biographical files on more than one thousand Australian composers, press clippings, reviews and concert programs, analyses, photographs and an extensive collection of porgram notes. Many of these are available for hire or sale and can be loaned to members. Members of the Australian Music Centre are entitled to borrow 10 items for up to 4 weeks. They also receive discounts on purchases and a bimonthly newsletter, calendar and authoritative bi-annual journal, sounds Australian, which covers issues in Australian music. The website of the Australian Music Centre is accessible to all. It includes a fully searchable online library catalogue, biographies and photos of over 450 composers and many other features.
