 Professional Learning Activities

aMuse offers a range of professional development activities throughout the year. These can include, for example, weekly developmental sessions on such topics as choral conducting, or composing in the classroom, or establishing a recorder ensemble. aMuse also has a close affiliation with the SoundHouse and runs music and technology based workshops with them.

aMuse has run an array of workshops to help establish curriculum initiatives from the Department of Education in schools. Many sessions, both as part of conferences and on a more ad hoc basis have been organised both centrally and regionally to help implement the Victorian Essential Learning Standards.

aMuse feels a strong sense of responsibility for the cultivation of music curriculum initiatives and to be part of the dissemination process when these initiatives come to fruition.

In 2008, aMuse will be targeting four main music educator groups in their professional development. They are:

Primary classroom teachers
Specialist primary teachers
Post-primary music classroom teachers
Primary and post-primary instrumental teachers

aMuse will encourage implementation of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards in its professional development as well as address the VCE music studies of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority.
